LRS-24 RADview/TDM Pre-configuring for Network Management 2-1
Chapter 2
Installation and Operation
2.1 Pre-configuring for Network Management
Perform the preliminary hardware configuration of LRS-24 using a terminal
emulation program.
Basic tasks include:
• Connecting the LRS-24 to a local terminal
• Viewing terminal commands
• Defining agent parameters.
To connect LRS-24 to a local terminal:
• Connect the RS-232 connector to the CM-2 RS-232 port, located on the CM-2
card.
The terminal emulation program uses the following communication
parameters:
Baud rate: 38,400
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: None.
To define LRS-24 and SNMP agent parameters:
1. From the Main menu, select System Configuration.
The LRS Chassis Setup Screen appears (
Figure 2-1
).
2. Type in the name of the chassis, and press <Enter>.
3. To move to the next line, press <Tab>.
4. Repeat the above steps to define the remaining agent parameters.
Figure 2-1
shows
a typical, completed data form.
SNMP community names are case-sensitive.
