4-10 Security
Defining User Security Access Privileges
A single user can have different access levels for each network element. For
example, a user can be a monitor for certain elements and a technician for other
elements. A user defined as an administrator will have administrator privileges for
all network elements and cannot be defined as an operator, a technician or a
monitor for individual elements. For each user, define an access level for each
network element to be handled by the user. The following access level definitions
apply:
Administrator: An Administrator can configure path management. This includes,
adding and removing elements from the map hierarchy. An administrator can view
and configure all aspects of RADview including all the map levels, agent and edit
configuration. The administrator can add, change and remove users to the system
and define their access privileges. An administrator can view the security log to see
all Login and Logout attempts.
Operator: The operator can use the zoom application to view and configure
designated agents.
Technician: A technician can run loopback tests, clear the alarms list and view the
statistics.
Monitor: A monitor can zoom statistics in read-only mode.
If a user attempts to carry out a restricted action, an "ACCESS DENIED" dialog box
will appear.
