Chapter 4 RADview-HPOV System Functions RADview-HPOV/ATM User’s Manual
4-72 Net Statistics
First Hour after Statistical Information Collecting Application was
Started
The following three situations may exist:
No files exists in the Statistical Information Collecting Application for the
current day
Files already exist for the current day
The hour is 24:00.
In the first case, the Statistical Information Collecting Application determines the
number of intervals that it needs to get from each agent by checking the number
of intervals that have passed since midnight.
In the second case, the Statistical Information Collecting Application considers the
number of intervals that appear in the files already, and only collects what is still
needed from the agent.
In the third case, no writing to a file is done. The Statistical Information Collecting
Application waits another hour, at which time it starts to save statistical information
for a new day.
When the Next Collection is Enabled/Disabled
The Statistical Information Collecting Application monitors the completion of data
collection for each agent. It will not enable the next writing to the files until the last
one has been completed for all agents. If the last data collection has not finished
by the time the next one is due to start, the next one is postponed to the next top
of the hour, which means that more intervals will have to be collected.
Node Not Responding
If at any time during the data collection the Statistical Information Collecting
Application loses connection with a node, the process for the specific thread of
data collection is stopped and is resumed again at the next top of the hour. Note
that work is stopped only for the specific group of variables for a specific interface.
Other interfaces on the same node may not have communication problems, and
so the process for them will continue as normal.
Non-Existing Intervals
For each requested interval that does not exist, the Statistical Information
Collecting Application writes -1s for each variable for the specific interface.
Change of Interval During Collection
If at the top of the hour, the time since the last interval for a specific node is
greater than 10 minutes, the operation is postponed until the start of the next
interval. This is to minimize the risk of a change of interval in the agent while the
Statistical Information Collecting Application is in the process of getting the last N
intervals. If a change of interval still occurs, there will be a loss of one interval.
