RADview-HPOV/ATM User’s Manual Chapter 4 RADview-HPOV System Functions
Net Statistics 4-75
ACE-202/ACE-2002 Statistics Collection
The Ace-202/2002 Statistics Collection is based on the TFTP upload process and
therefore has minimum overhead on the net (compared to SNMP).
At the beginning of a round hour, the application determines how many intervals
were logged so far. According to the number of missing intervals it issues a request
for the missing intervals. For each missing interval the agent creates a compressed
file, which contains all the relevant statistics data. This file is transferred by TFTP to
the NMS, under <TFTP_boot>/AC0Stat. A trap with the number of successfully
uploaded files is sent at the end of the upload stage, after which the compressed
files are decoded and the final statistics files are created.
The date and the number of successfully logged intervals are written to the
database.
The Ace-2002/202 devices can handle only one TFTP session at any given
moment.
It is possible to delay the collection start time. The offset, from the round hour, is
defined at the file: "StatStartTimeOffset", under
/opt/MNG/MNGVIEWHP/WAN/StatConfig.
The values should be in minutes, range 0-59, default=0.
In order to mark the end of the collection stage an empty files are being created
under "/opt/MNG/MNGVIEWHP/WAN/StatCollect" and called AC0StatFinished
and ACE202StatFinished these files are removed at the beginning of the next
collection stage.
Determining the Number of Missing Intervals
The number of missing intervals is determined by the information in the database.
For example:
If today there are 40 logged intervals and the hour is 11:00 there are 4 missing
intervals. The application can retrieve up to 96 intervals per agent, not necessary
from the current day's midnight. If there are missing intervals from yesterday they
will be collected as well.
It is possible to limit the maximum number of intervals that the application can
request. This is done by editing the file
"/opt/MNG/MNGVIEWHP/WAN/StatConfig/ac0_IvlLimit", which contains, by
default, the number 96. This number can be set to any value in the range 1–96.
When the Next Collection is Enabled/Disabled
The Statistical Information Collecting Application monitors the completion of data
collection for each agent. It will not enable the next writing to the files until the last
one has been completed for all agents. If the last data collection has not finished
by the time the next one is due to start, the next one is postponed to the next top
of the hour, which means that more intervals will have to be collected.
