ASM-40 Ver. 1.0 Functional Description 1-3
1.2 Physical Description
ASM-40 is available as a standalone unit or as a rack-mount card for the
ASM-MN-214 hub.
Figure 1-3
shows the 3D view of the ASM-40 standalone unit.

The front panel includes seven LEDs, which display the status of power, data
flow, control signals and diagnostics. Four front-panel switches control the three
loopbacks and BER testing activation. For detailed description of the front panel,
see
Chapter 3
.
The back panel includes a power connector (AC or DC), an interface connector,
and a line connector. The ASM-40 rear panel is described in greater detail in
Chapter 2
.
1.3 Functional Description
This section contains functional descriptions of the ASM-40 circuit blocks, shown
in
Figure 1-4
.
